Cool temperatures last week were welcome
after the 90-degree heat with wind had
dried out the moisture still in the
soil. Rain is needed. The wheat is
beginning to show the drought and even
the farm paper predictions are a bit
pessimistic. Farmers are planting
soybeans and milo in dry conditions.
Pastures and the alfalfa are also
showing the drought. A possibility of
showers the latter part of the week
would be most welcome.
The Kensington custom harvest crews left
for Oklahoma early last week when they
were called that the wheat was ready and
quite good in that area. The wheat here
is usually ready for harvest three weeks
after they begin there. Does that mean
harvest will be here the first or second
week in June? We will see, but it has
been a different year.
Thought for the week--"Kind words take
less breath than harsh words. Every day,
every minute, every breath is a gift
from God." |
