The beautiful fall weather is putting smiles back on farmers' faces as they are working on the fall harvest. The huge pile of milo across the street from Goldbug Field indicates that yields are doing well. The various colors of the harvested grain always are a pretty sight. The wheat has been drilled except for patching in terrace channels and mud holes where water stood. The temperatures dip to almost freezing each night and most vegetation has been stopped from growth and the trees are rapidly losing their leaves. Flowers in protected areas are still providing their beautiful colors.

The Jr/Sr High School marching band was out this morning practicing for the Veterans' Day parade. The drums and music added to the joy of spending time outdoors.

Locals on the bus tour last week to Branson report a good time. The shows, food, accommodations  and fellowship were great but the weather was rainy, windy and cold. Gary and Susan Panter of Springfield provided a picnic lunch Wednesday noon beside the Lake which would have been wonderful, but it was cold and windy so everyone quickly ate their meal and retreated on the bus. With a large group of older retirees making the trip, it was wonderful that no one fell or got became ill. .

Rural Telephone has been revamping and enlarging their building in Kensington. A brick facing that is added is making it a very attractive addition to our town.
