Today our local paper had a front page article concerning the issue of the telemarketers using cell phone. The cell phone numbers were released August 1 to the pesky telemarketers. It is possible to block some of these phone calls as was done on the land phones earlier.

To block this effort, one needs to call 1-888-382-1222 from the cell phone that you want these calls blocked. This would then put you and your cell phone on the National Do Not Call List. Of course, you have to register your phone number. So give this your immediate attention!!! Telemarketers are a pain because they like to call at mealtime. Persons had the opportunity to put their land line phone on this list a while ago. However, it won’t block off all of that political jazz!!!

Hospice Volunteer In-service meeting at the Senior Center will be Monday, August 11 from 7 to 8 p.m. The Board of Directors will meet at noon Wednesday, August 13. Pitch will be played Thursday, August 14 at 7 p.m. The Food Pantry will be open Saturday, August 16, 1 to 3 p.m. Double deck pinochle will be played Monday afternoon, August 18 at 1:30 p.m. August birthdays will be celebrated at noon on Thursday, August 21. Pinochle will be played Tuesday, August 26 at 7 p.m.

Mark your calendars now and plan to attend the pot-luck supper on Labor Day, Sept. 1 at 5:00 p.m. Everyone is invited to enjoy the good food and fellowship.

There were 14 players out for pinochle on July 29. Al Lambert and Donna Westbrook had high scores and Elvyn Slavik and Ted Levin had low.
