Make plans to spend August
16 at Kensington's Old
Fashioned Saturday Night.
Watch for further
announcements.
Do you realize that it is
less than four weeks before
school starts? Where has the
summer gone? However, the
thermometer doesn't let us
forget that it is July with
temps near 100 forecasted
for the rest of this week
without any rain. Kensington
city was blessed with .70
rain early last Wednesday
morning and another 1.80
Thursday evening. Again,
amounts varied, but the
entire area had substantial
amounts. Nothing beats a
soaking July shower in
Kansas. The milo and corn is
really enjoying the hot,
humid weather the past
several weeks. The lawns,
too, are nice and green
and, those kept neatly
trimmed, along with many
flowers in planters add to
the beauty of our town.
The school bus drivers of
the new Thunder Ridge
District #101 will be making
trial runs this week to see
how routes will work out and
make any changes necessary.
Yes, kids, it is almost
school time again.
The usual greetings and fun
and fitness exercises along
with hair stylings and
manicures took up Monday
morning. The Men's Club met
Monday. Independence Day was
discussed. Bingo was played
Teusday afternoon. Pastor
Patsy Koeneke had the
Thursday morning Bible study
followed by coffee time with
visiting. Natonal Parks and
First Ladies sparked a lot
of discussion. The local
news from the Pioneer was
read Friday morning and
bingo was played. Card
games, puzzles, movies, and
game shows are evening
entertainments. The Lawrence
Welk Show on Saturday night
is always a favorite.
The smaller children from
St. John Lutheran Church
shared their SSchool lesson
Sunday morning with
residents. Pastor Koeneke
assisted by Steve and Linda
Miller had the afternoon
worship service with
communion. Ruth Bienhoff was
the pianist.

residents were Janet Anthony
and Ted Werner with Betty
and Doris Kuhlmann; Jack and
