March 17th, 2008

Your correspondent wishes each of you a very
happy and blessed Easter. May the Risen
Christ give you added assurance, joy and
comfort. May the Lord send you as many
blessings as there are blossoms in His
beautiful springtime world.
The early Easter date this year is making
history. In 1940, Easter also came very
early when it was on Sunday, March 24, just
one day later than this year. Some readers
remember this date for special reasons.

We are happy to report that John (LJ)

Smith County Hospital. He has been
hospitalized for four weeks from weakening
from pneumonia.
The community extends sympathy to Vern and

husband, Jean Ann and Stan Wagner, on the
death of Vern's brother, Francis Holle, 81,
of Atwood. He was a retired farmer. The

Church in Atwood.

time with their grandparents, Leland and
Linda Rahjes.
Kindergarten thru Grade 6 made a field trip
to Logan last Wednesday to see the African
Acrobats do a spectucular performance. The
teachers and sponsors report a really good
time for the students. Thanks to the Hansen
Foundation for making this program possible
for area students.
As this column is written on Monday, rain
has been falling during the night and into
the morning. Rumbles of faint thunder were
heard during the night. Rain gauges are
still in hibernation to keep them from
freezing, but several report about .70. Rain
really beats snow at this time of the year
and will be very beneficial for the emerging
wheat crop which shows more greening each
day. A cold front moved through over the
weekend putting an end to the spring-like
temps, but warmer weather should be
forthcoming according to forecasters.
