Beautiful Easter Morning
About
fifty worshippers gathered near the cross at
the St. John Lutheran Cemetery for the
annual Sunrise Easter Service. The
temperature of 18 degrees did not deter
their enthusiasm as winter coats were the
appropriate Easter attire. The sun was just
rising above the horizon when Pastor Patsy
Koeneke read the Easter story and several
cardinals that might have been inspired by
the the singing of the Easter hymn provided
their own vocal tributes. Special
recognition was given to Nikkie (Diercks)
Bailey and her family who were leaving for
the Kansas City Airport immediately after
the service for Nikki's deployment to Iraq.
A
delicious breakfast was served to a hungry
and cold group in the church parish hall by
men from First St. John Lutheran and St.
John Lutheran Churches.
Glorious Easter services were held in the
area churches with lots of special music.
Many visitors gathered to be with family and
friends.
