Royalty Crowned at Thunder Ridge Friday Night

It was a beautiful night for the crowning ceremonies for the first Thunder Ridge High School Homecoming Friday evening. Queen Matraca Forell, daughter of Curtis and Ann Forrell, and King Drake Reynolds, son of Darel and Janet Reynolds, were crowned before the game with the Junior Class in charge. Crown bearers were Amber Pruitt, daughter of Lori and Joseph Pruitt, and Jonathon Ferguson, son of Desiree and Kerry Ferguson. Theme for the evening was "Best Time of Our Lives."

Queen attendants were Jessica Adams, Kellie Henderson, and Katie Powell. King attendants were Blayne Bienhoff, Taylor Kuhlmann, and Matt Teselle.

The homecoming game was a disappointment when a powerful Quinter team proved too much for the Thunder Ridge Longhorns. Game details and stats are in the sports section of this issue.

After a beautiful week of fall weather with temps in the low 80's and comfortable night time readings, rain began falling early Monday morning with the Bienhoff gauge measuring 1.5 inches as this column is completed at 2 p.m. and light rain is still falling. The wheat fields were dry and hard and this soaking rain will certinly be a boost for the newly planted wheat fields and also give th[[ farmers time to catch their breath.

Farmers are busy drilling wheat, harvesting soybeans and some early corn, putting up the last of the alfalfa, filling silo, baling cane, etc. They are as busy as the proverbial "cranberry merchants." They state that the milo will probably need a killing frost before it is ready for harvest and the forecasters have not indicated this in the coming week.
