Praise in the Park is Friday

Come join with others in the community in singing praises to God at the Roadside Park on Hiway 36 Friday evening, August 14 at 7:30 p.m. Bring a lawn chair (along with insect spray) and plan to participate with an evening of Christian fellowship in the outdoor setting. Special music is encouraged and will be appreciated. Ice cream will be served at the close of the program.

Old Fashioned Saturday Night This Week

The summer is rapidly fading and school will soon begin, but this Saturday night is reserved for everyone to come to Kensington Main Street and enjoy an "Old Fashioned Saturday Night." It's time to get together for "old-fashioned" visiting and good food at modest prices. Bring your lawn chair and plan to have a great time.

The evening will begin with the swimfest at the local swimming pool at 4:30 p.m. The employees are planning some fun contests with prizes for participants. This is always a great time for children to show off some of their talents they have achieved during the summer swimming. Spectators are welcome.

The highlight of the evening is always the "kiddie/pet parade" which will begin at 6:30 p.m. on Main Street. The Thunder Ridge High School KAY Club will assist and prizes will be awarded in a number of categories.

The food stands will open soon after the parade and be ready to serve the variety of healthy appetites. Take a stroll down Main Street before making your choices of hamburgers, brats, nachos, homemade ice cream, luscious homemade pie, and much, much more.

The future Sapphire Dancers who attended camp this week will perform, but no other entertainment is planned. In the past it was found that people really enjoy connecting with each other and visiting more than special entertainment. It's a time for families to come to town together and the children are left to roam freely as "oldsters" enjoy watching. The Three Jacks will provide music throughout the evening and also for the street dance which will follow the fireworks display at the football field beginning at 9 p.m. (or when it is dark).

See you in Kensington Saturday night for a fun time! Be sure to arrive early to attend all the events, stay for the fireworks, and conclude with the street dance.
