Storm Warnings Create Concern
A major storm is predicted for this week
beginning with freezing rain Tuesday
evening turning into snow with blizzard
conditions on Wednesday. With so many
wanting to travel, we hope it takes a
detour around our area.
We have had some really nice days with
temps in the 30's and 40's which have
shrunk the snow piles considerably. It
would have been nice to have these
conditions continue until after the
holidays, but it is winter in Kansas and
the weather must be respected. The
weekend sounds clear but with cold
temperatures well below freezing.

note in her mailbox at home or the
container at the post office, or, best
of all, send it by e-mail to

Readers not living here locally like to
hear of your family's gatherings.

alfalfa seeds as well as a time to enjoy
a delicious meal and lots of fellowship.

Carols for Prairie Haven
A group of adults and children from the
St. John Lutheran Church came Sunday
evening during the supper hour to carol.
It made the supper extra special to have
this music to lift our souls and it was
deeply appreciated. The Busy Bees 4-H
Club also came to visit this past week
and were so very welcome.
The beauty shop was open Monday and
manicures were given. One-one sessions
are held daily. A quiz on "What year is
this?" tested our knowledge. Bingo was
played Tuesday afternoon.
The Adopted Grandchildren, third and
fourth grades, came to visit Wednesday
morning. What a joy they are! Jimmy
Carter and the Florida Keys were
afternoon topics.
The United Church had the Thursday
morning Bible study and visiting
followed. Sweden, Pennsylvania, and
proverbs, wit and wisdom gave everyone
something to think about.
Current events were discussed Friday
morning and bingo was played in the
afternoon. Saturday was filled with
television watching, card games, and a
movie. There is always a puzzle on the
table waiting for someone to put in a
few pieces. Visitors are invited to put
in a piece or two.
The United Church had the Sunday
afternoon worship.
Pearl Ratliff had her children and some
of their spouses here for lunch on her
