United Church Youth to Present
"Christmas Hang-Ups" Dec. 20
The United Church of Kensington Sunday
School youth would like to invite all
family and community friends to attend
their special Christmas performance on
Sunday morning, December 20 at 10:30
a.m. during the regular church service
time.
United Church youth ages preschool
through high school will be presenting a
special musical called "Christmas
Hangups" written by Dennis and Nan
Allen. The play is a delightful musical
that features Christmas ornaments who
come to life. When the “Hula Girls”
ornament comes out of the box, the
traditional Christmas Star, Angel and
Snowman don’t understand what this
unusual ornament has to do with
Christmas and give the Hula girls a
rather cool reception. A special parade
of children dressed as other ornaments
fills the stage when suddenly Joseph
appears to share the true meaning of
Christmas.
Everyone attending the program will
enjoy the fun and catchy music written
for the program and the youth who have
been practicing for several weeks for
this special musical performance.
A soup dinner will follow the program
with the soup provided by the church.
Each family attending is asked to bring
a finger food to compliment the
delicious soup. Table service, drinks
and soup will all be provided.
The United Church youth believe you will
be blessed by attending their program,
"Christmas Hang-ups", on Sunday,
December 20 at 10:30 AM.
The United Church will be holding
Christmas Eve services at 5:00. There
will be guest music as well as
congregational singing, sounds and
smells of Christmas. There will be an
open communion offered. The evening will
close with a lighted candle ring around
the interior of the church and singing
of "Silent Night". Come, Lord Jesus, and
bring us Light! The theme for the
evening is "Jesus is the Greatest Gift
of all!"

Winter weather arrived Sunday noon when
snow began falling and temperatures
dropped to below zero Sunday night for
the first time this season. It snowed
heavily all afternoon accumulating to
about 3 inches. The sun came out
periodically Monday, but the
thermometers didn't budge much. Heavy
snow with strong wind is predicted for
Tuesday into Wednesday. The children are
excited and the local business people
are happy because it means people are
shopping at home. Everyone hopes that
the cold, snowy weather will finish
before holiday travel begins.
