Student Missing a
Coat?
Rosie at the
Kensington Elementary School has quite a
collection of jackets and coats that the
students have left at the school. Check
your closets to be sure one of these
does not belong to your child, and if
you are missing one, call Rosie at her
home, 476-3197 and she will meet you at

Around the Community
Audrey Carter was the thrilled
winner of the laptop computer given away
at the Kensington Community Store.
Proceeds from the raffle will be used
for new refrigeration equipment.
Ken and Janice Ratliff attended the
high school graduation and reception at
Elwood , Neb. , of their granddaughter,
Allison Einspahr Saturday. Allison is
the daughter of Rich and Robin Einspahr.
Others from the area attending were Lana
and Emalee Ratliff and Leonard, Linda,
and Ariel Robinson of Smith Center,
Alvie and Annalee Ratliff of Athol, and
Darrel and Colleen Gale of Phillipsburg.
Jerry Rietzke has much relief of
pain since his recent back surgery at
the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
This is good news as his harvest crew
will soon be leaving.
Margaret
Stockton is regaining strength and was
able to come home Saturday from the
Wichita hospital. Commutes to Hays for
dialysis will be necessary three days a
week at this time.
Gary Hainke
is receiving therapy at his home for his
back injury. Needless to say, the
recovery is going far too slowly for a
busy farmer this time of the year.
Mary Beach states that her brother,
Bob Beckman, is serious ill with a
serious staff infection at a hospital
near their home in Santa Rosa,
California. He is receiving intravenous
antibiotics. For further information,
please contact Mary.
Mother's
Day guests of Loretta and Don Norden
were their daughter, Connie and Brian
Ortgier of Kennesaw, Neb., and their
granddaughters and families, Ronnie Cook
of Kennesaw, Neb., Candace and Luke
Lister and Carson of Concordia, and
Jamie and Cody Shelton, William and Addy
of Spaulding, Neb. Shannon Hays of Clay
Center, Kans., was an additional dinner
guest.
Melissa, Morgan and
Maycee Westbrook spent the weekend with
John and Linda Scheer at Leavenworth.
Bob and Donna Westbrook joined the group
Sunday for the baptism of Olivia Scheer,
infant daughter of Tim and Christina
Scheer, at Lawrence. They also helped
Bailee Scheer celebrate her third
birthday.
The Kensington area
received .70 rain in several night-time
showers lsat week and Mother's Day
brought drizzles, but no measureable
amounts, but warmer temperatures are
spurring spring growth. Farmers are busy
planting spring crops and getting cattle
to pastures. The children are enjoying
the great outdoors.
Thought for
the week--Everything that happens to us
happens for a reason. Never brush aside
anyone as insignificant. Who knows what
they can teach us?
