Large Crowd Gathers for Grauerholz Reunion

The family of the late Mary Grauerholz Gemaehlich hosted the annual Grauerholz reunion at the St. John Lutheran Parish Hall Sunday noon, Sept. 6, 2009. A potluck dinner was enjoyed by the large group attending. Tables were also set up in the hall to accommodate the many attending. After the delicious meal was finished, the various families were introduced. The next Grauerholz reunion will be held on the Sunday prior to Labor Day, 2009 at the St. John Lutheran Parish Hall with the family of the late Lizzie Goll in charge.

While the adults were busy visiting the children were enjoying the delightful day and the outdoor playground equipment north of the Parish Hall. The kids were thrilled with the swings and slide, but the Hainke merry-go-round which was manufactured in Kensington in the 1940's was the children's favorite. Adults could remember when almost every rural school playground had one of these merry-go-rounds and also the memory that children had a tendency to fall off from it or get sick to their stomachs if they were pushed too fast. It is reported that no such incidence happened during the afternoon.

Rain is a possibility the middle of week when another cool front moves into the area. Gardeners are busy processing or giving away the surplus vegetables they are producing.
