TR Prom, Pormenade, and Post-prom Great
Night
The weather was perfect for the annual
Thunder Ridge Junior/Senior banquet and
prom Saturday evening. The theme for the
evening was "Midnight Masquerade" and
the gym was decorated appropriately. The
Kensington Community Store catered the
banquet and also provided the drinks for
the post-prom later in the evening. Many
spectators were out for the Promenade to
see the students dressed in their formal
attire and also to watch the procession
of the various "vehicles" used to
transport those attending. The dance for
students and their dates followed.
The post-prom was held at the Middle
School gym in Agra this year and was
well attended until it closed at 3 p.m.
Some breakfasts were served after the
post prom making a short night of sleep
if they were planning to make it to
church. A good time has been reported.

Around
the Community
Linda Hohner, formerly of Kensington,
has completed a series of chemo at the
hospital in Hutchinson and is now
recuperating among relatives in Beloit.
She had been with her daughter and
family, Jenifer McMordo, in Ft. Drum,
NY, but chose to come back to Kansas at
Christmas time.
JoAnn Rust is home and doing well after
spending five weeks in Oklahoma
recovering from hip replacement surgery.
Marla Baumann had thyroid surgery in
Hastings last week. She plans to return
to work at the St. Francis Academy this
week.
It's good to report that Rees Levin, 3
1/2 month old daughter of Joe and Kaylee
Levin of Merriam, was a very sick baby
last week, but has now returned to her
home and is doing better. Her
grandparents, Steve and Deb Levin, spent
several days with the family while she
was in the hospital.
Mike and Diann Hrabe came from Canton
Tuesday to enjoy seeing Blane and Benton
Hrabe in their track meets Tuesday and
Thursday and Owen and Raini Hrabe's
soccer game in Phillipsburg Saturday
morning. Duke Hrabe of Tempe, Ariz.,
made a surprise stop enroute from the
East Coast and spent the weekend. Shane
Hrabe and son, Matthew, of McPherson
came early Friday morning especially for
turkey hunting. All joined together at
the Legion Friday evening for a
community supper. Several meals at the
homes were provided for all the family
with daily hunting reports and lots of
reminiscing over the fun-packed week.
If you need a decorated cake for a
special event, see Ashley at the
Community Store.
Spring is definitely here at the trees
are leafing out and the flowering shrubs
and trees are in their finery. The temps
have been cooler than normal, but days
are due to warm up this week with the
possibility of thunder storms. Much yard
work and planting of gardens is being
done this week.

Birthdays Celebrated at Prairie Haven
Two residents had April birthdays and
were honored at the party on Friday.
They are Mary Jones on April 14 and
Norva Wyrill on April 27. Ice cream and
cake were served.
The week began with the usual greetings
and exercises each morning. Manicures
were given on Monday and trivia was
shared in the afternoon. Current events
were presented Tuesday and bingo was
played.
Wednesday was a great morning when the
Adopted Grandchildren came to visit.
Their chatter and sharing is so enjoyed
by the residents.
Jenny Reilley had the beauty shop open
Thursday. The United Church had the
morning Bible study. Spring fever was
discussed in the afternoon. The local
news was read from the Pioneer Friday
morning and current events were
discussed. The April birthday party was
held in the afternoon. The usual
television and movie watching, card
games and putting puzzles together kept
the residents busy during the weekend.
The Sunday afternoon worship and holy
communion service was held by Pastor
Patsy Koeneke of St. John Lutheran
Church assisted by Paul Bienhoff. Ruth
Bienhoff served as pianist. Eulonda
Hagman, Mary Struckhoff, and Carolyn
