She reports winners at pinochle on December 28 at the Senior Center were Howard Grauerholz and Ada Gaines, high, and Al Lambert and Elvyn Slavik sharing the low scores.

Some thoughts to ponder during these cold, wintry days:

Frame every so-called disaster with these words, "In five years, will this matter?"

Life isn't tied with a bow, but it's still a gift.

No matter how you feel, get up, dress up, and show up.

God is in control, make peace with HIM.

News is Scarce

School vacation is over and students have returned to their routine. College students have another week of vacation before their new semester starts. The cold weather is the main topic of conversation and it has kept everyone fairly close to home. Forecasters predict even colder temperatures with blowing snow coming mid-week with below zero readings and highs only in the single digits. The deep freeze is on, but it doesn't compare to the frigid weather in northern states, so put on your long johns, button up your coat, and hunt out the caps and gloves because you are going to need them.

The Kensington column is short this week even those in the beauty shop didn't have anything new to report going on in the community.

They left there the day after Christmas for Merriam to make the acquaintance and give proud approval of their new granddaughter, Rees, before returning home.
