Stan and Carolyn Billings were gone to Harrisonville, N.C. , from May 6 to 12 to visit their daughter and family, Debbie, Ed, and Ian Murdoch/. It was a very rewarding trip to see their grandson, Ian, graduate from Furman University in Greenville, S.C. on May 8 with a Music Performance major. He will be going to the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music, Cincinnati, Ohio, in the fall to complete his masters' degree. The Billings report a great time and good travel.

Eugene and Nancy Hagman attended Commencement Ceremonies at Kansas State University May 14 especially to see their daughter, Patricia Betzold, receive her Master’s Degree in Business Administration. Patricia has accepted employment with ConAgra Foods in Milton, Penn. Patricia then flew to join her husband, Craig, who has been in Pennsylavania for several weeks where he is employed by UPS. The couple will live in Lewisburg, Penn. Patricia's grandmother, Eulonda Hagman, and Craig's parents, Morris and Barbara Betzold of Hutchinson, also attended the graduation and related festivities.

Steve and Deb Levin accompanied by Evelyn Levin were in Kansas City over the weekend going especially to attend the graduation of Kylee Levin who received her doctorate from the KU School of Medicine Saturday evening at the Leid Center in Lawrence. Kylee is the daughter-in-law of Steve and Deb and wife of Joe Levin. Their 4 1/2 month old daughter, Rees, was also present. Word was received here of the death of Cynthia "Cindy" Sue Stephen, 68, retired counselor from Emporia High School, on May 12, 2010 at the Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka. Mrs. Stephen taught English in the Kensington High School in the late 1970's and perhaps some of the students will remember her. She leaves her husband, Jim of Emporia; son Jed and wife Alison (Hagman) of Caledonia, Mich.; her parents and several siblings. The funeral was Monday, May 17 at the First United Methodist Church in St. John, Kans.

Sympathy to Colette and Francis Sweat of Claudell on the death of Colette's brother, Francis Mick, 81, of Osborne on Friday, May 14. He leaves his wife Laynete, four children and their families. The Mass of Christian burial was Monday morning at the Aloysius Catholic Church in Osborne.

Ruth Levin returned last Monday from Brighton, Colo., where she had spent the previous week with her daughter, Yvonne Levin, who was recuperating from carpal tunnel surgery on her other hand.

A full house was present at the benefit luncheon Sunday noon for Tyler and Tiffany Bohm at the Kensington Legion. Tyler has been diagnosed with lung cancer and is unable to work. The benefit was organized by a group of friends with Thrivent members helping with the serving. It put sunshine into a dreary Sunday and everyone enjoyed the delicious meal, the fellowship, and helping out a young family that needs support.

Thought for the week--"The happiness of your life depends on the quality of your thoughts. The best vitamin for making friends is B1."
